GWM’s Hi4-T system is the brand’s Hybrid Intelligent 4WD architecture, designed to maximise the vehicles potential, without trade-offs. Hi4-T is engineered to deliver high output, long electric range, true mechanical 4WD capability, and heavy-duty towing support. Its unique design seamlessly harmonises the strength of a traditional internal combustion engine with the efficiency of electric power, while retaining full off-road capability through mechanical drive components.

By using a parallel petrol-electric design, the engine and electric motor complement each other in real time. The system keeps the engine operating in its most efficient range, delivering stable and consistent output. The result is strong, smooth power with lower fuel consumption, particularly valuable off-road, where drivers can precisely modulate output to overcome obstacles. And when charging isn’t available, GWM’s Hi4-T system seamlessly switches to direct petrol drive, ensuring the SUV continues to deliver reliable performance for towing or tackling tough terrain.

Hi4-T features a true mechanical 4WD system with a non-decoupling structure and up to three locking differentials. Retaining mechanical linkages allows power to be sent directly to a single wheel if needed, ensuring traction even in the toughest conditions. With 2H, AWD, 4H Lock, and 4L Lock modes, plus a choice of eleven driving modes, Hi4-T is ready for everything from highway cruising to extreme off-road adventures.

Powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with a 120kW electric motor, the Tank 500 ULTRA PHEV Hi4-T AT1 delivers a class-leading combined output of 300kW and 750Nm. Power is transmitted through an advanced 9-speed Hybrid Automatic Transmission (9HAT) and a torque-on-demand 4WD system, ensuring effortless response both on-road and off-road.

The all-new Tank 500 ULTRA PHEV Hi4-T AT1 achieves combined fuel consumption of just 2.1L/100km and accelerates from 0–100km/h in 6.9 seconds, showcasing the seamless balance of efficiency and performance for a large SUV. A large 37.1kWh ternary lithium battery enables up to 120km of pure electric driving range (NEDC) and a combined range of up to 950km, reducing the need for frequent refuelling and offering greater freedom for long-distance travel. Fuel (RON) 91. Charging flexibility is built in, with a CCS2 connector capable of up to 50kW DC fast charging (30–80% in as little as 24 minutes), or AC charging at home in approximately 6.5 hours. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality allows the SUV to discharge up to 6kW — ideal for powering equipment or supporting off-grid caravan adventures and a maximum braked towing capacity of 3,000kg.
