The year was 2016 - October 7th to be precise, the last of an Australian icon with a history dating back over 56 years – is no more. Ford’s Australian manufacturing running from Thursday August 20 in 1959 to its conclusion on this fateful Friday, the Falcon nameplate - one of the longest running badges in the world - has also had its day.

For those who know, know, for those don't - watch Ford vs Holden on your streaming service. It's an insight to the way the Ford Badge (or Holden - depending on who you aligned with) created a legacy of Australian Motoring history, that till this day remains in the heart of all.

So now to the offering we have here. A January 2016 Build, the last model year that was to be offered, Factory Original, XR6 Turbo Sedan in Smoke Grey and the best bit - The Six Speed Tremec TR-6060. A ONE Owner travelled 133 kilometres, most of them being regional. A good honest example, that has been what presents looked after and proudly kept, while still being enjoyed not locked up in a shed, judging by the kilometres.

TWO Factory keys accompany the FULL service history made up of a mixture of the local mechanic and Ford Franchise and the interior is in better shape than I've seen them before in comparison. A Fresh service and safety alongside my Vehicle Report Card gives me great faith to see this one out the door to its next 'Proud' owner.

Growing up in a Ford Franchise around the height of this era (and the years before), the power delivery was everything Aussie Muscle when the beginning of the FG series landed. The FGX came along with all thrown at it from what was left in the Broadmeadows Factory and some raised eyebrows at the styling cues, while others felt excitement. The most aggressively shaped Falcon was here.

The Barra 270T engine it has holds impressive stats from factory along the lines of - 270 kW (362 hp) at 5250 rpm -Torque levels of 533 N⋅m (393 lb⋅ft) at 2000–4750 rpm and a compression Ratio of 8.8:1. The Tremec TR-6060 gearbox it is paired to was also used in other Ford models and is known for its robustness and ability to handle high torque and was rated for between 580 Nm (430 lb⋅ft) and 880 Nm (650 lb⋅ft) of torque depending on gearing. All numbers that will make you smile when the foot goes in.

When it rolled off the line, there was a realisation that not only had the last Ford car been built by Aussie hands, but also that the final Falcon badge had been applied; the final blue oval badge had been stuck to a big four-door sedan; the final nuts tightened; the final clips clicked, and the final checks made.

So in all of that darkness, sadness, bygone years of now heartbreak, here is now your opportunity. Perhaps park it in the shed, keep the kilometres off and watch the value grow as they become more and more rarer to find. Or enjoy and celebrate what was once a common siting amongst Australian streets, but now a distant memory of the powerful manpower Australia once had.
