Naturally when you’re onto a good thing you persist and nothing is truer than with my success of on selling this generation Mini Cooper.

The last one lasted till the first enquiry, with others crossing fingers that the they didn't take it and I feel this one, albeit an older model but still with a fantastic odometer will have similar outcomes. If they’re in good condition with low kilometres they still attract that 'old world' customer that has happy memories of the mini of yesteryear and respect the nostalgia of owning one now.

A 2009 with a measly 131 kilometres, it has a TWO factory keys still, a FULL service history of MINI and the European specialists until it landed in my hands for its safety check and report card. Funnily enough the same colour as the last 'Pepper White' but with a Black roof not a 'Hot Chocolate' and probably most beneficially an Automatic transmission opening up to a larger range of buyers.

The reconditioning bill was minimal needing only serviceable items replaced, and drives as good as any other I've kept in the past. I often see them with pixelated dials, but this one must have been shedded for most of it's life because it does present much better than its age suggests. The seats are in great condition with signs of very minimal if any wear, with no rips or sagging standing out. The exterior chrome highlights proves no bubbling or tears and even the plastic guard moulds are still popping like new-ish.

We often state that they have Go-kart like handling! But while many car makers promise it they rarely do deliver on that promise. When BMW bought the Mini brand, car enthusiasts were sceptical but had high hopes that the purveyors of the Ultimate Driving Machine would bless the rebirth of the iconic hatch with similar traits. But boy, did they deliver. So now while this isn’t the 'S' Model, it still resembles all of those characteristics even at a lower entry offering proving the manufacturer got it right in the chassis.

Space is a little tight in the back seat and the boot is laughably small, but really, who cares, this is a car to enjoy driving, not be a passenger in. While the suspension can be on the firm side around town, it's a small price to pay for amazing turn in with the hefty steering wheel and the confidence inspiring handling that comes from the tank-like build quality and the wide stance of such a small package.
