The Australian automotive industry has faced several urgent recalls in the past year. Shop for Cars has put together a list of all the cars that have recently been recalled by their respective manufacturers.

Mercedes

In October 2021, Mercedes issued an urgent recall for over 40,000 cars Australia wide. It was found that the emergency technology is defective and could prose a risk to driver safety in the case of an accident.

  • Mercedes A-Class: Manufactured between 2018 and 2020
  • Mercedes Maybach S650: Manufactured between 2018 and 2020
  • Mercedes AMG GT: Manufactured between 2018 and 2020

Mercedes Benz will fix the issue free of charge. Motorists are urged to visit their local Mercedes dealer or the dealer of purchase.

Volvo

Almost 1500 Volvo’s have been placed on the urgent recall list due to reports of driver airbag inflator ruptures in the event of deployment as a result of a crash.

Models affected:

  • Volvo S60: Manufactured between 2003 – 2010
  • Volvo S80: Manufactured between 2003 – 2010

What if you own an affected vehicle?

Volvo will correct all safety airbags free of charge. Please inform your local Volvo dealer and book in a time for replacement.

Ford

Ford Australia has recalled almost 300 Ford Ranger and Everest units due to a potential fault with a factory-fitted awning.

Ford Australia has also recalled almost 1100 Ford EcoSport SUVs, citing potential fire risks to the hood insulator.

Models affected:

  • Ford Ranger Ute: Manufactured between 2016 – 2021
  • Ford Everest SUV: Manufactured between 2016 – 2021
  • Ford EcoSport SUV: Manufactured between 2013 – 2017

Car Finance

Nissan

Nissan Australia has recalled almost 1000 Nissan Pathfinders due to power and engine issues. It has been found that the engine may stall resulting in a loss of power during drive.

Models affected:

  • Nissan Pathfinder SUV: Manufactured between 2014 – 2020

What to do if you own an affected vehicle?

Nissan Australia has asked any owner of the Nissan Pathfinder SUV manufactured between 2014 and 2020 to contact them at the earliest convenience to book in a free repair.

Mazda

Mazda Australia has recalled almost 3000 Mazda 6’s and RZ-8 models due to a reported fuel leak.

Models affected:

  • Mazda 6: Manufactured between 2005 – 2012
  • Mazda RX-8: Manufactured between 2005 – 2012

Kia

Kia Australia recently recalled 60,000 Kia Stinger and Kia Sportage vehicles over an engine bay fire risk.

Kia also issued a recall for Kia Seltos models as they are not fitted with anti-theft locks despite it being mandatory.

Models affected:

  • Kia Stingers: Sold between December 2016 and March 2019
  • Kia Sportage: Sold between April 2015 to October 2020
  • Kia Seltos: Sold between October 2019 to August 2020

Hyundai

Hyundai Australia has recalled almost 100,000 Hyundai Tucson models over an ABS manufacturing error that could risk potential engine fires.

Models affected:

  • Hyundai Tucson: Sold between 2014 and 2020

Hyundai will be contacting all owners of the affected models to book in a repair time. If you are yet to receive a call from Hyundai, please contact your local Hyundai dealer as soon as possible.

Toyota

Toyota Australia has recalled Hybrid Yaris hatchbacks due to potential power loss while driving.

Models affected:

  • Toyota Yaris: Manufactured between October 2019 and September 2020
  • Toyota Yaris Cross: Manufactured between October 2019 and September 2020

What to do if you own an affected Yaris model?

Owners will be contacted by Toyota to book in a time for a free repair. If you are yet to receive a call from Toyota, please reach out to your local dealer as soon as possible.

Honda

Honda Australia has found a faulty pump system that causes vehicles to stall whilst driving. According to Honda, roughly 22,000 cars were affected.

Models affected are:

  • Honda Accord: Manufactured in 2018
  • Honda Civic: Manufactured in 2018
  • Honda HR-V: Manufactured in 2018
  • Honda Civic Type R: Manufactured in 2018
  • Honda: CR-V Manufactured in 2018 and 2019
  • Honda Jazz: Manufactured in 2019
  • Honda NSX: Manufactured in 2019
  • Honda City: Manufactured in 2019
