1973 VW KOMBI WESTFALIA POP TOP CAMPER T2 - BRILLIANT ORANGE - 211,953 KM - LHD, 2.0L UPGRADE, FRESH CARBS/BRAKES/TYRES, COMPLETE WESTFALIA FITOUT
1973 VW Kombi Westfalia Pop Top Camper T2. Rear wheel drive. 2.0L Petrol (upgraded). Manual. Indicating 211,953 km. 5 seats. Left Hand Drive.
Description
A Westfalia pop-top T2 in Brilliant Orange is one of those vehicles that stops people in their tracks. They photograph themselves next to these. They talk about owning one for years before they do anything about it. This 1973 example checks all the boxes that make a T2 Westfalia genuinely desirable, and the exterior presentation is excellent. The orange paint is consistent, glossy, and deep all the way around the bus. Panels are straight. All glass is intact. Every light, lens, and piece of chrome trim is present and correct. The cream Westfalia pop-top sits flush when closed and looks solid from every angle. The Westfalia script across the rear panel is right where it should be. Through the windows you can see the original-style terracotta curtains on their rails and the white Westfalia cabinetry inside. This one has not been stripped out. It is a complete Westfalia camper and it looks the part.

Notably, this is a left-hand drive vehicle, which is correct for a German-built Westfalia Camper of this era. Many T2 Westfalias imported into Australia are LHD, and for the collector market this is actually authentic and period-correct, even if it takes getting used to on Australian roads. The seller has put real work into making it tour-ready. Fresh 2.0L engine and gearbox (an upgrade over the factory 1.6L), carburettors rebuilt, brakes done, new tyres fitted, carpet, curtains, awning, and seat covers all renewed. That is a serious list of work. You are not buying a project that needs freshening up. You are buying something the previous owner clearly intended to use and use well. The white steel wheels are clean and the tyres look fresh, consistent with the recent tyre claim.

A few things to note before bidding. No engine photos are included, which is always worth flagging on a vehicle where the engine swap is a key selling point. Ask for a video inspection so you can see the 2.0L in situ. The pop-top canvas and lift mechanism are not shown in the raised position, so the condition of the canvas bellows and the internal sleeping platform need to be verified. Indicating 211,953 km on a 50-year-old bus is entirely believable and is not a red flag in this context, these things are built to work. T2 Kombis hide rust in chassis rails, under battery trays, and in floor pans that photos simply cannot reveal, so a hands-on inspection is essential. But on everything visible, this bus presents as a solid, usable, go-anywhere classic camper. Brilliant Orange with a white pop-top, co
