Description
The 1964 Chevrolet Bel Air sits in a fascinating spot in the collector car world. As the mid-level full-size Chevrolet, it shared its X-frame platform and crisp square-edged 1964 body with the Impala above and the Biscayne below. The 1964 style, penned by GM's legendary design studio, is considered by many to be one of the cleanest full-size American car designs of the era: low, long, flat-roofed, elegant without being flashy. These cars are increasingly recognised as a genuine alternative to the Impala, particularly when the aim is a custom build rather than a restoration.

And that is exactly what this car is: a partially completed custom build. The builder's vision is clear. All factory chrome trim has been removed for a shaved, clean look. The bumpers have been blacked out. The car has been resprayed in flat white. Most significantly, a full AccuAir air ride suspension system has been installed, complete with E-level controller, boot-mounted air tank, and dual Viair compressors. This is a premium air management setup that retails for several thousand dollars and transforms the driving and standing stance of the car. Aftermarket 17-inch wheels are fitted, and the car sits aggressively low in the photos. Aftermarket LED headlights, a water temperature gauge, aftermarket tacho, and a glovebox-mounted JVC CD player round out the modifications done so far.

The vendor is being honest about what is still needed, and buyers should read the condition notes carefully. This is not a finished car. The white respray has inconsistencies, scratches, and areas requiring further attention. There is evidence of rust, particularly around the front fenders, and the driver-side rear door is not opening. Trim pieces have been removed and some are bent or dented. This car needs a committed builder to take it across the line. The platform for a genuinely stunning custom is here, the expensive air suspension groundwork has been done, and the bones of a real 1964 Bel Air are intact. But go in with clear eyes and a realistic budget for completion.
